We’re delighted to welcome Chloe Wood, who joins Topodium Group as one of our new Business Administrators. As Topodium Group continues to grow and expand its reputation in the sport, health and leisure industries, Chloe join us as a much appreciated and skilled individual to help navigate the additional requirements of our thriving Partners and team.
Welcome to the team, Chloe! Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am originally from Middlesbrough, where I spent majority of my early life, apart from the ages of 5 – 9 where I lived in a small town in Spain called Cantoria. This was a great opportunity to learn Spanish and get familiar with the culture, especially from a different perspective and not simply as a tourist.
During my education I spent most of my time focused on the more physical side of academia. For example I was really passionate about dance, drama and even catering as these subjects interested me the most. Even into my college years I continued studying Performing Arts. I found my personal life filled with physical activities such as dance, gym and hiking, but due to an unfortunate injury I had to change career paths so reluctantly I went into food and beverage retail, which I’ve been involved with for the past 6 years.
What makes you excited about your new role as Business Administrator within Topodium Group?
I have a one year old daughter and I’m currently pregnant with my second child. Due to being on maternity for over a year, and with the effects of Covid, I realised I had lost my passion for work and my social skills were impacted. So, when the opportunity to work for a great company and try something new came around, I jumped at the chance! It was a scary thought of starting a new job with new people, but I thought… well, why not!
I’m really looking forward to developing new skills, and the thought that hopefully one day by using my new skills and and doing everything I can, that the company will grow and so will its Partners.
What has been your proudest moment in your career so far?
Considering I’m 5ft 3, one of my proudest moments was being able to control a large group of drunk customers by myself. If I can manage that, I’m sure I can manage the Topodium Group team 😉
Who would you say are your professional and personal role models?
My personal role model would definitely be my Mam. She’s been through a lot in her life; being a single Mam she decided to go back to college and university all while raising me, running a house, and working two jobs. Even to this day she still looks after me and my daughter and puts us first before herself.
Professional role models are a little more difficult as I don’t really have that much interest in celebrities or idols. But, one person who does inspire me is Robert Downey Jnr. The start of his life began with a very bad decision that cost him a lot, but he managed to turn his life into something that everyone can look up to. He inspires people to be better, and shows that no matter what your circumstances are in life it’s your choice to change them.
What are your first impressions of Topodium Group so far?
The Topodium Group team are very friendly, really welcoming and very hard working people. There’s a lot of dedication, but it’s also a fun environment to work in. I’ve been welcomed into the team and I can really see myself growing and learning here.
What is your go to Karaoke Song?
Zombie by The Cranberries.
What are you currently reading, watching or listening to?
I love a bit of old school classic music, so that’s what I’m listening to. Oh, and also binge watching Supernatural.
What is your favourite sport, and which team or athlete do you support/follow?
I’m not sure if this is a sport as such, but I love cooking shows and eating challenges. Is eating a sport? I adore the Hairy Bikers and Heston Blumenthal.
If your life was a movie, what would it be titled and which actor would play you?
If I could pick any actress to play me, I would choose Tiffany Haddish as she makes every role she plays hilarious, loud and badass all at the same time. The film title would be something along the lines of “Hungry, Tired and Raising Baby Lucifer.”
What do you like to do to unwind and relax when you aren’t working?
When I’m not at work I’m most likely in housewife or Mam mode, so the only free time I have really is when I get to sit down and watch a film of TV series.
If you could go back in time to any point in history, which time period would you choose and why?
If I could go back in time I would transport back to the 1950s or 60s. I enjoy the music and the clothes, but I also love the old style diners and dance events!
What is the best career lesson you’ve learned so far?
There has been so many lessons I’ve learnt over the years, but the one that is the most important to me is to never let a failure stop me from future success. And it goes without saying that you can use that lesson in so many aspects of life, especially in your career.
For our partners, what would you describe as the main benefit of working with Topodium Group?
From my perspective, the main benefit for Partners working with Topodium Group is the breadth of expertise and talent that you have access to. I’ve seen first-hand how the team work collaboratively and truly dedicate themselves to achieving great outcomes for Partners – It’s really exciting to be a part of.
