Welcome to the team, Purva ! Tell us a bit about yourself.
Thank you for the warm welcome! I hail from a city called Indore in Central India, which is known for its great food, lovely people and cleanliness. I am extremely passionate about digital marketing and have been fortunate to have worked with leading e-commerce firms that sell in a vast consumer market like India. I love to travel, read and eat!
What makes you excited about your new role as Digital Marketing Manager within Topodium Group?
I’m quite excited to be joining such a vibrant team and work for such vital sport and health businesses around the world. I’m also glad to be joining at a point of the year when everyone is busy and the office is buzzing with exciting projects. I am hopeful I’ll get a chance to learn many new skills and develop myself personally and professionally as a Digital Marketing Manager while working for Topodium Group.
What are your first impressions of Topodium Group so far?
My first impression is very positive and encouraging. I have not seen this kind of inclusive and value-driven work culture in my 5-6 years of work experience. It is a very dynamic, young team and I can’t wait to work and grow with you all!
Tell us 2 truths and 1 lie
I’ve shaved my head for cancer awareness. I’ve met the Dalai Lama twice. I am a certified Yoga Instructor.
What’s one thing you’re learning right now, and why is it important?
I’m learning advanced Shopify store set-up and analytics. It is important to be able to help our partners grow their e-commerce stores!
Name a product you can’t live without, and tell us why.
Absolutely nothing. I’m pretty low-key and zen like that.
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever received?
“When something bad happens, there’s no point in wishing it had NOT happened. The only solution is to minimise the damage and move forward.”
If your life was a movie, what would it be titled and which actor would play you?
It’d be called ‘Taming of the Shrew’ and I’d want Rosamund Pike to play me because she’s my favourite!
Who would you say are your professional and personal role models?
I don’t have a particular professional role model since I think everyone’s professional journey is unique, but I do consider the awesome founders and senior management team at Happily Unmarried/Ustraa – my first workplace back in Delhi who believed in my skills and inspired me to grow into a fully-fledged Digital Marketing professional.
Personally, I think my dad inspires me the most because he’s a man of his word. It was his unwavering belief in me that made me come all the way to the UK to study and work here!
What are you currently reading, watching or listening to?
Reading – Deep Work by Cal Newport
Watching – Derry Girls, Season 3
Listening to – Coke Studio S14
What 3 celebrities would you like to interview and why?
This is a tough one! I’d probably start with AR Rahman – the world famous Indian composer and ask him how he’s able to create such good scores every time.
The other celeb would be David Fincher. I’d love to know more about his process of working through his amazing scripts and faultless direction.
The third would probably be Cillian Murphy, to get to how he manages to ace every character he plays!
What inspires you the most?
They say ‘you just need one person to believe in you’ and in the last two unpredictable years of the pandemic, I’ve discovered what a mammoth-level difference it makes if that one person who believes in you is yourself. So, it is the ability to self-motivate yourself even when every single thing in the world is going against you is phenomenal!
What made you decide on a career in Digital Marketing?
Growing up, I was always fascinated by the ability to sell something in the most realistic way. I think being real and knowing the wider problem you are trying to solve, while selling a product or a service, is the key to building processes and work-flows for efficient and groundbreaking digital marketing.
While my entry into the digital marketing world was after being a content-writer for some years, what interested me the most was the fact that digital marketing is ever changing – ever updating industry where I would never get bored because there are just so many skills to learn and develop! It was this endless possibility of learning something new, and using it to help businesses grow – that got me hooked to the world of digital marketing.
What trends in Digital Marketing interest you right now?
I like how a lot of brands are simplifying their digital presence and making themselves more approachable and adaptable as per their top consumers. Brands with a to-the-point communication strategy and an efficient CRM system in place are earning trust and competitive edge.
If you could give one piece of advice to our partners in the sports, health and leisure industries related to marketing, what would you say?
I’d urge them to be authentic and stick to the vision and values of their business. It is a defining factor in setting short-term and long-term marketing strategies. In my experience, businesses grow when they evolve with new technology and know exactly who their target audience is, and in what way they engage with their brands. I’m glad to be joining the dynamic team at Topodium Group that helps deliver this and much more!
